This is a new site and we will be adding articles about wigs in the next few weeks.
Wigs can be made of two materials, synthetic (monofibre) or human hair. There is a big variance in quality and cost, so it pays to do some research before forking our for the first one you see. Real hair wigs tend to be more expensive than synthetic although they do usually last longer and can look more natural. However they do need regular dry cleaning and will need more care in day to day styling.
Synthetic wigs are generally cheaper than real hair wigs and are easier to look after. They can be washed with shampoo, and left to drip dry over-night. You can even style them wit ha little hair spray, although overdoing this will make the hair look dull and unnatural.
You can either get a wig attached permanently using a special adhesive, or you can attach it with double sided tape so it's easy to remove daily.

There are two types of hair extensions: clip-ons (or clip-ins) and semi-permanent extensions. Clip-ons are easy to put in by yourself and they don't need much looking after. Semi-permanent ones, on the other hand, need a professional to attach them and do need more looking after, but they will last generally for at least 2 to 3 months. For example, they shouldn't be left wet for long periods, e.g. if you spend the day at the beach. Also be careful to look after your existing hair and not allow it to get too tangled with your extensions.
